Nashville Social 30s & 40s: Kayak the Harpeth River in Historic Franklin

Join Nashville Social 30s & 40s for a relaxing paddle through one of Franklin’s most scenic stretches of the Harpeth River. This easygoing float is the perfect mix of outdoor adventure and social fun, winding through historic Franklin beneath several picturesque bridges with opportunities to spot blue herons, turtles, kingfishers, and other local wildlife along the way. Whether you’re coming solo or with friends, it’s a great chance to get outside, meet new people, and enjoy a beautiful day on the water.

Trip Details

Route: Eastern Flank Battlefield → Harlinsdale Farm
Estimated Paddle Time: Approximately 2-2.5 hours (depending on water levels)
Experience Level: Beginner-friendly

Arrival & Check-In

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before our 11 AM trip departure at Harlinsdale Park Canoe Launch.

Directions:
Enter Harlinsdale Park from Franklin Road / Harpeth Industrial Court and follow the one-way loop until you reach the parking area near the stable buildings. Continue through the parking lot until you see signage for “Canoeing.” Follow that road down to the river parking area, where our team will be waiting with our vehicle and bright orange/yellow kayaks.

Shuttle Transportation

We’ll handle the logistics! After check-in, our shuttle van will transport everyone upstream to the launch point at Eastern Flank Battlefield. Your paddle ends back at Harlinsdale Park, so your vehicle will be waiting for you when you finish.

What to Bring

  • Water

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

  • Water shoes or secure footwear

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting wet

  • Phone or camera (at your own risk—we’re not responsible for lost or damaged belongings)

Kayak Options & Weight Limits

  • Single Kayaks: Up to 300 lbs

  • Tandem Kayaks: Up to 450 lbs
